As in the old farmhouses this room has a slate floor, which helped keep it cool on a busy washday. Cold water was pumped into the sink and heated in the copper in the corner which had a small fire beneath it. The plate rack was large enough to dry all the plates used for school meals.

The room is currently used as the museum shop for souvenirs etc.
