The purpose of the AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the landscape. The designation covers the landscape, scenery, wildlife and cultural heritage within the AONB.
The South Devon AONB covers 130 square miles (337 square kilometres) from Jennycliff in Plymouth to Berry Head and Elberry Cove in Brixham, including the entire coastline of the South Hams.
